About 2021 DIRISA Datathon[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.16.1″ _module_preset=”default” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n
The 2021 DIRISA Student Datathon Challenge was held virtually under the theme of \u2018Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education\u2019 .<\/p>\n
9 Universities participated in the datathon, <\/strong>the universities were :<\/p>\n\nWITS University, University of Johannesburg (UJ)<\/li>\n Tshwane University of Technology (TUT)<\/li>\n University of Mpumalanga (UMP)<\/li>\n North West University (NWU)<\/li>\n Central University of Technology (CUT)<\/li>\n Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT)<\/li>\n University of Zululand (UniZulu)<\/li>\n Vaal University of Technology (VUT)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nTechnical mentors for the datathon were Miss Mahlatse Ratsome and Mrs Melise Steyn. There were four judges in the panel namely Miss Noluvuyo Gqadu of Code Ngwana, Dr Simo Mthethwa a lecturer at the University of Kwazulu-Natal and Dr Kushata Ntswaitsile of the University of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n
The prizes for the 2021 SDC were sponsored by IBM. The prizes were awarded as follows:<\/p>\n
\n1st<\/sup> Prize went to Team SHODAN of Sol Plaatjie University. Each team member received R8000, a total of R32\u00a0000 for the team.<\/li>\n2nd<\/sup> team prize went to Purple Code of Rhodes University with each team member receiving R5000 and a total of R20\u00a0000 for the team.<\/li>\n3rd<\/sup> team prize went to Team Code Fellas from the University of Johannesburg and each team member received R3000 equating to a team prize of R12\u00a0000.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n <\/p>\n
